Gary played Corporal Walter ‘Radar’ on the film MASH, he played Charlie Brown and appeared on 204 episodes of the television show ‘Match Game’, this role elevated him in the entertainment industry.

Gary was in the band The Relatives in 1968 as a drummer before they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada at the Sahara Hotel and Casino Lounge where they performed for three months. In 1970, he made his first film Robert Altman’s MASH in 1970. He was the only actor continuing in the show he played as Radar O’Reilly.

Gary Burghoff was born in Bristol, Connecticut on May 24th, 1943 before moving to Clinton, Connecticut. He attended Delavan High School in Delavan Wisconsin. He studied drumming and tap dance. He enrolled in professional acting classes at HB studio based in New York since he was a talented kid since childhood.

Gary married in 1971 to Jane Gayle and had one child in 1975 but unfortunately, they divorced in 1979. He remarried Elizabeth Bostrom and had two children but divorced in 2005.

He invented a fishing device that attracts fish to boats, the device is called Chum Magic.
