Shannon Emery Lee was born on April 19, 1969, to the late martial artists and actor Bruce Lee and Linda Lee Cadwell. Lee is the youngest child in her family and the only daughter and living child.

Shannon’s career as an actress began in 1993 when she made a cameo appearance as a party singer, in her father’s biopic Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. After the appearance, she had supporting roles in Cage II in 1994 and High Voltage in 1998.
In 1998, Lee had her first leading role in Neter the Eagles, a Hong Kong action film. The actress had a fight scene with Benny Urquidez, who went on to teach her kickboxing. In the same year, the actress had a guest role in Martial Law, a television series.
